Ethnicity, race and gender stereotypes

Within this scene Leonard and Raj's sister are dating and they walk into the restaurant where Raj is already there. As soon as he see's them together he automatically says that he has toe them that they cannot hold hands, whereas they have already spent the night together so the female in this case is very dominant, whereas in this race the male is nearly always dominant. This then breaks the stereotype because she has already gone against what he says and in this religion they have to do as the male says. Also at the end Raj and his sister are talking to their parents on video chat and they ask how they are and the mum and dad say that they are fine because they are rich in a poor area. This shows that the stereotype of an indian family is that they are very rich and like people to know this due to their culture, so by being in a country that is not as rich as their country of origin it makes them look like the stereotype of a traditional indian family as they look a lot richer than the majority of who they are living around.

In this episode Tyra Bans is talking about race and how everyone is equal and 'beautiful' she talks about the perceptions and how people are judged negatively for no reason. This shows that race is represented positively as she is portraying the fact that it does not matter what race you as you ca still achieve the same things as other people in other races. She is also taking about the odds that people from different races take in a negative manor and the ways in which different people react to certain stereotypes and how they feel about different comments.

Exotic: This portrays the idea of an exotic ethnic minority as this is the colour festival in Portugal, the bright colours emphasise the fact of the 'exotic' culture due to the amount of different bright colours and the amount of people that have took part within this event shows how popular it is and how many of the people from Portugal wanted to be involved and lobe the traditional festival. Also due to the fact that many different people have travelled hundreds of miles to attend the event also shows how famous and well known the country is for this event.
